In the last week of September, the second transnational meeting of the Erasmus + project, Hands in Hands, was held in Saarbrücken, Germany. The local coordinator of the project, Nicole Abdeli, the Director of the school and some students of diverse nationalities welcomed (in Portuguese, Romanian, Turkish, Polish and Croatian) the participating teachers from Portugal, Romania, Turkey, Poland and Croatia.
At the German school, teachers were able to attend a workshop involving students with special educational needs and attended a class where didactic games were used. The Romanian coordinator gave a presentation on the strategy of using games in the teaching / learning process. In addition, after an overall evaluation of the first year of the H.I.H. project, the activities, which are to take place in the second and final year, were planned, namely student exchanges. Thus, the following mobilities schedule with students was created; in Poland, during the week of December 4th to the 8th, in Romania, from the 5th to the 9th of March; in Turkey, from the 9th to the 13th of April.
During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to visit the school. Also, the city of Saarbrücken, which is the capital of the Saarland region, as well as some emblematic sights: an archaeological site in Perl-Borg that replicates the living spaces of a Roman family; a ceramic museum featuring the century old history of the Villeroy & Boch brand in Mettlach; the natural panorama of the river Saar, observed from the viewpoint Cloef.
The Hands in Hands project, which involves students ages 13 to 15 years, aims to develop social skills and transnational collaboration through the use of English as a language of communication and non-verbal language. The aim is to stimulate collaborative learning activities with the use of traditional games, traditional dances and other forms of expression, seeking to involve students with special educational needs.
